Falling Angel No. 1 by Bashar Alhroub
Bashar Alhroub (b. Jerusalem, 1978) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects on identity, vulnerability, and belonging. In this work, a fluid ambiguous figure moves through empty space, drawn to a golden symbol. The golden emblem becomes a symbol of individuality—a reflection of the Palestinian struggle to assert personal and national identity under the weight of displacement and occupation. Alhroub’s exploration of selfhood and exile probes what it means to stand out, to resist erasure, and to hold on to a sense of self in the face of collective trauma.
