Lost Words by Bashir Makhoul

As part of Zawyeh Gallery’s Posters for Gaza campaign, Bashir Makhoul reflects on the silencing and erasure of Palestinian voices amid ongoing violence in Gaza. The initiative revives the tradition of political posters as tools for resistance, solidarity, and global advocacy for Palestinian rights and dignity. Born in Galilee, Bashir Makhoul is a conceptual artist and academic whose work explores themes of displacement, identity, and conflict. He has exhibited widely, including at the Venice Biennale, Tate Liverpool, and the Institute of the Arab World. Makhoul is also a published author and currently serves as President of University Canada West in Vancouver.
