Women Carrying Jerusalem by Sliman Mansour

Sliman Mansour (b. Birzeit, 1947) depicts a seated Palestinian woman holding a translucent sphere containing the cityscape of Jerusalem. Set against a richly patterned rug, the composition symbolizes cultural heritage and the intimate bond between people and place. The womanโ€™s gentle grip on the bubble and her calm expression reflect care and reverence for the city, emphasizing Jerusalemโ€™s spiritual and historical importance. Through this imagery, Mansour conveys the enduring connection Palestinians maintain with their homeland, despite displacement.
