Palestinian artist Issam Al-Haj Ibrahim constantly envisioned the Palestinian Kufiyah as a symbol of the resilience and representation of the land, highlighting an unwavering group of people united by a common ambition – the pursuit of dignity and freedom. This is how I see my Kufiyah serves as a reminder that cultural symbols can carry powerful messages, and it highlights the tenacity and unity of people who share a common goal.

Al-Haj Ibrahim states, “I have cherished my father’s Kufiyah since I was ten, drawn to its intricate patterns that have captivated my attention over the years. As I wore this symbolic piece, questions arose: why the timeless black and white hues, the seemingly simple yet captivating lines? These queries led me on a journey to decipher the meaning behind the design, delving into the significance of each element, from the olive leaves to the fishnet and trade routes.”
