Holy Sepulcher by Jack Persekian
Jack Persekian (b. Jerusalem, 1962) is a Palestinian artist and curator from Jerusalem whose work explores the city’s layered history and contested identity. In his project Past Tense, he overlays contemporary photographs of Jerusalem with century-old images taken from the same angles, revealing the city’s transformations over time. By moving between two moments in history, Persekian exposes the effects of occupation, erasure, and power on the urban landscape—challenging romanticized, orientalist visions of Jerusalem and confronting viewers with the city’s complex, evolving reality.
